Let’s face it – we love to get out and about on the bike, but transporting bicycles can be a pain. There are many bicycle racks on the market, but many fail to live up to their promise and are not the easiest to load/unload and are not stable for corrugations and may cause damage to your bicycle frames. Your POD trailer is designed and built in Australia, just like Shingleback, so you need a rack which will complement your lightweight POD trailer and be built to withstand the harsh elements of Australia.
We are asked very often whether a Shingleback vertical bike rack is compatible with a Stockman Pod trailer or Trailmaster Industries Pod Trailer, so we’ve designed a proprietary system which enables you to mount our vertical bike rack to the drawbar of the trailer.
We’ve designed this system to fit on most A-frame drawbars and suit a variety of camper trailers In this scenario this Stockman POD trailer has a Shingleback Classic Bike rack system [Classic Rack has now been replaced with the enhanced Shingleback Vertical Bike Rack] mounted to the front with a Shingleback swing arm accessory, to enable easier loading and unloading from the kerbside.
Why would you mount a bike rack to the drawbar?…..
Many POD trailer drawbars from Stockman POD trailers range from 1.3m up to 1.7m, and Trailmaster Industries POD trailer drawbars start from 1.7m – 1.9m . Without a front mount box, this gives plenty of useable space to securely fit your vertical bike rack. Drawbars are also a preferred location for many owners in the case of reversing into something and damaging your bicycles, plus drawbars minimise vibration over corrugations and uneven road surfaces, therefore providing a more stable ride for the rack and your bicycles.
We’ve also seen many owners fit bicycles to the rear of their POD trailers with a bike hitch mount accessory which is supplied by Trailmaster Industries.
