Shingleback Canopy Bike Rack

Product Description:

Got a ute with a canopy/service body?  The Shingleback Canopy Bike Rack is a simple solid solution that not only securely carries your bikes it also leaves the tow bar free for towing*.  The bikes are carried a lot closer to the vehicle which improves the departure angle and reduces rear overhang.  The Canopy Bike Rack uses the same innovative best in class Cradles that are used on the rest of the Shingleback racks which are rated to 35kg each, are multi adjustable, accept BMX and Roadie accessories, and really are much safer for your bike.  While the Canopy rack is awesome please be aware that depending on the height of your canopy and vehicle it may be a challenge for shorter people to reach while loading/unloading bikes.

The kit consists of the top bar with cradles, bottom bar, and the new canopy mount brackets which are a universal solution to help custom fit the top bar to your canopy.  As canopies vary and everyone has a different set up, it is your responsibility to ensure that your vehicle, canopy, mounting system are suitable and that you comply with any local rules and regulations including making sure your number plate is visible.  Please note the kit does not include a number plate board but they are available separately if needed.

We recommend using a skilled fabricator to ensure the Shingleback Canopy Bike Rack is properly installed and securely affixed. See warning & disclaimer below.

Whilst it is possible to use the Shingleback Canopy Bike Rack in conjunction with your existing Roof Racks, Roof Top Tent, Awnings, solar panels etc, these items may also need to be adjusted, moved or removed to allow clearance for the bike rack.

*If you plan to also tow a trailer/caravan/camper trailer when transporting bikes it is up to you to ensure that you don’t exceed your vehicle’s GVM or GCM or down load rating and the drawer bar is long enough to ensure clearance.

Features of the Shingleback Canopy Bike Rack

Shingleback Canopy bike rack for utes with a canopy or service body

Multi- Adjustable Cradles

New cradle design that reduces movement, contacts mainly on the tread to reduce potential sidewall rub and hugs your wheel just right. Highly adjustable cradle positions with rotation and front/back movement to give a better fit with wider handlebars. Cradles are positioned in a staggered fit to ensure maximum clearance can be achieved between bikes so brake levers are not rubbing between frames.

Carry ALL of the bikes

With our new cradle design and range of accessories you can safely carry every bike in your collection. Bikes with wheels from 24" to 29" MTB, up to 4" wide fat tyres and most gravel bikes, will fit straight into the standard cradles. With the addition of the 20" BMX insert or Roadie Insert  you can also carry kids 20" bikes, BMX and road bikes.

Improved Departure Angle

The canopy rack sits high to minimise impact on your vehicle departure angle when compared to a standard Shingleback Vertical Bike rack mounted to the towbar.

Maintain Towing

Maintain towing with your vehicle, whether its your trailer for weekdays or caravan on the holidays, the Shingleback Canopy Rack gives you the ability to continue towing and use existing roof mounted accessories such as awnings, roof top tents and roof boxes.

High Quality Materials

We’ve used corrosion-resistant, higher-tensile Duragal steel for optimum strength and reliability for carrying any bikes up to heavy ebikes.

Pedal Strap Option

When driving off road is it suggested to use the Pedal strap option for added bike stability on the rack. When adding the pedal strap option your bike may be damaged when exiting steep departure angles.
