The depth of a vehicle’s 50mm square tow hitch can vary. To address this we have different length tow bar tubes available: the Standard fit (from 80mm depth) and the Shallow fit (from 60mm).
IMPORTANT: You will need a minimum depth of 60mm to be compatible with our product range.
Every rack comes with the Standard length tow bar tube that has 3 pin holes to choose from so you can achieve the best fit to your vehicle. The Standard tow bar tube is a great all rounder and suited to most vehicles.
A minimum tow bar depth of 80mm (from centre of pin to where it bottoms out inside the hitch) is required for the standard range of tow bar tubes.
The Standard Short tow bar tube has only one pin hole and will provide a closer fit to your vehicle without having a long section of the tow bar tube sticking out. Great for (standard SUV type vehicles) with the minimum 80mm depth.
The Standard Long tow bar tube is best suited to vehicles with long trays or canopies (for example). Shingleback strongly recommends that you use additional straps from the rack to your vehicle if choosing the long tow bar tube to reduce any additional movement.
This range is only suitable for vehicles that have a minimum tow bar depth of 60mm.
The Short tow bar tube has only one (hitch) pin hole and will provide a closer fit to your vehicle without having a long section of the tow bar tube sticking out.
The Long tow bar tube has only one hitch pin hole and is best suited to vehicles with long trays or canopies (for example). Shingleback strongly recommends that you use additional straps from the rack to your vehicle if choosing the long tow bar tube to reduce any additional movement.
The total weight of the rack and load must not exceed 60% of your down load rating for your vehicle.
Refer to your vehicle manual to understand your maximum down load rating and read the disclaimer on our 10 year guarantee page prior to purchase.
Always check the regulations in your State/Territory as they can vary across Australia.
