Shingleback Bike Rack Disclaimer – Important Notice – Read before Purchase and Use

1. What is your intended use? The Shingleback bike rack (rack) and Swing Arm products have been designed to be mounted directly to a 50mm square tow hitch on the rear of a vehicle that is not being towed, such as a car or 4WD (intended use).

Mounting the rack or swing arm:

• to any vehicle that is being towed, including but not limited to caravans, campers and trailers: or
• a motorhome
• by using an adaptor to connect to a 50mm square tow hitch is not recommended unless fabrication works are completed by a qualified fabricator.

Additionally, using the rack or swing arm in a way that is not consistent with the intended use is done strictly at your own risk and Shingleback will not be liable for any claims or damages whatsoever resulting from any use that differs from the intended use.

2. Is your vehicle suitable for your rack?  Shingleback assumes no responsibility for the suitability of your vehicle to accommodate a rack.  While our bike rack size guide provides an indication in relation to the type of vehicle required to accommodate certain sized racks, the guide is for general purposes only.  The guide should not be solely relied upon to determine whether your vehicle is suitable and provides no express or implied guarantee.  To the extent permitted by law, Shingleback does not accept any liability for any loss or damage suffered by relying on any information provided by Shingleback whether caused by the negligence of Shingleback or otherwise.  Any reliance you place on such information is therefore strictly at your own risk.

Shingleback recommends that you make enquiries with your vehicle manufacturer to determine the suitability of your vehicle to accommodate the rack and swing arm products.  The total weight of the of the rack and load must not exceed 60% of the tow ball down load rating for your vehicle’s tow hitch.

** Regardless of your vehicle’s tow hitch download rating, the maximum carrying capacity of the rack is 115kg (LITE) | 70kg (2B90). IMPORTANT: A swingarm reduces your bike rack’s load rating.

Dirt roads can reduce load ratings. Shingleback Off Road recommends that you brace the rack to your vehicle with ratchet straps if driving on uneven surfaces.

Additionally, Shingleback recommends that you position your rack as close to the vehicle as possible to avoid creating extra stress on your vehicle’s chassis.
