1. Yes, Shingleback Racks Fit Most 4WDs with a Rear-Mounted Spare Wheel
Many Aussie families and adventure riders drive Prados, Pajeros, Defenders, or similar 4WDs. We’re proud to say our vertical racks are compatible— some need just a little extra consideration for that rear-mounted spare. You won’t be compromising on bike carrying capacity, durability, or safety.

2. The Key: Getting the Right Tow Bar Option
The standard tow bar tube supplied with the rack is usually the right choice for many 4WDs including Toyota Prados. This setup provides enough access for most needs—roughly the width of an average person—so you can open the door, let the dog out, grab your helmet, or pop in your groceries. However, if you need full access to the rear with your bikes loaded, read on—because we have solutions for you.
Unlike the Prado, Pajeros and new-model Defenders are just a couple of vehicles that need a longer tow bar tube, or an offset tow bar tube, will solve the issue. See the full range here.
