Meet Luke:

Luke Meier-Smith is one of Australia’s most exciting downhill mountain bike talents, racing with the Giant Factory Off-Road Team. Hailing from the small town of Comboyne on the NSW Mid North Coast, Luke’s rise through the sport has been fuelled by a lifelong love of speed, adrenaline and the freedom that riding brings.

A multiple Australian Downhill National Champion and winner of the 2025 UCI Downhill World Cup in Lake Placid, Luke has firmly established himself on the global stage.

Favourite feature of your Shingleback rack?

The integration of the 2B90 and the MOTO Rack has gotta be it! Being able to travel with both moto and bikes is super cool! What more could you want?!

When did you first come across Shingleback vertical racks? What were your initial thoughts?

I came across Shingleback Off Road when I was a youngster starting out and always thought that they were the best looking and the best built racks on the market to transport my bikes.

RIDING LIFE

What’s the most challenging event or trail you’ve ever tackled, and what made it so tough?

2025 World Champs track in Champéry, Switzerland. The sheer steepness, with an average gradient of 32/33%

How did you first get into riding, and what keeps you hooked today?

Originally through BMX racing then started MTB. I think the thrill and freedom is what keeps me hooked.

What does a typical training week look like for you during the season?

DH days, trail rides, gym and some intervals
